Acceptable Use

Letter Kit is a service of STACHOLD GROUP LLC ("we", "us"), and this policy forms part of your agreement with that company.

Email works on shared reputation. A list nobody asked to be on does not just annoy its recipients — it degrades delivery for every other newsletter sent from the same infrastructure. That is the reason for most of what follows.

Consent

Send only to people who asked to hear from you, and only about what they asked to hear about.

Every subscriber confirms by email before they become active. This is not a setting.
Imported lists confirm too. Importing is not a way around consent.
Purchased, rented, scraped, harvested and "appended" lists are not allowed, whatever the seller claims about their provenance.
A business card, a form for something else, or a past purchase is not consent to a newsletter.

Unsubscribing

Every message carries a working unsubscribe link and one-click unsubscribe headers, and we add them for you. Do not try to remove, obscure or defeat them, and do not re-add someone who has unsubscribed.

Content that is not allowed

Anything unlawful, or that promotes or facilitates unlawful activity
Phishing, impersonation, forged sender identity, or misleading subject lines
Malware, or links to it
Content that harasses, threatens, or incites violence against people
Sexual content involving minors, in any form — reported, not just removed
Chain letters, pyramid and multi-level marketing schemes, and get-rich-quick offers
Cryptocurrency promotion of the pump, airdrop and giveaway kind
Deceptive claims about health, money or legal outcomes
Content infringing someone else's copyright or trade mark

We are not here to police what a newsletter argues. Difficult, unpopular and strongly-held opinions are fine. The list above is about deception, harm and illegality, not disagreement.

Technical conduct

Do not attempt to interfere with the service, other accounts, or the servers it runs on.
Do not use another account's credit, or a payment method that is not yours.
Do not automate against the service in a way that degrades it for others.
Do not use Letter Kit to relay transactional email — password resets, receipts and the like belong on a service built for them.

Bounce and complaint rates

If a list generates a high rate of hard bounces or spam complaints, we will contact you and may pause sending from the account until it is sorted out. This is the one rule enforced by arithmetic rather than judgement, because the consequences fall on everyone else sending from the same place. A healthy list arrives at these thresholds only when something has gone wrong — usually an old list sent to after a long silence.

Reporting a problem

If you received something through Letter Kit that breaks these rules, or you believe an account is being used abusively, tell us. Include the message, with headers if you can get them. We read every report.

What we do about breaches

Usually we ask you to fix it. For serious cases — phishing, malware, illegal content, or sending to a bought list — we suspend the account first and discuss it afterwards. This policy forms part of the terms of service.
